Nizam, Aadhar Kendra
Nizam has benefited from the Aadhar Kendra scheme since he was 9 years old. Now 22 he has just begun his first job as assistant to Pranil the team leader for Aahar Kendra, working on a programme that he has received help from for many years. Nizam says that the biggest benefits of the scheme for him were receiving food each day after school, being given books and clothes and getting his exam fees paid for. This was vital for him as he had no father to support him through his education. Nizam says that ‘it helped him not to feel alone in the world.’ He goes on to say the best thing about his current job is the support he gets working with Pranil who amongst many things has taught him how to use a computer. While working for DGS Nizam is also in the second year of his commerce degree. He is particularly excited about the prospect of an exchange trip to Scotland with other Aadhar Kendra beneficiaries in 2009.
