Pushpa School Drop Out
Pushpa is a new member of staff who joined DGS 3 months ago. She heard about the job through other DGS employees and loves working with children so it was an ideal role for her. Pushpa has found the experience of teaching with Deep Griha rewarding because unlike a regular classroom she is able to concentrate on each child and their individual circumstances. Most children in Pune are privileged enough to go to school, however the situation in the slums is very different. Pushpa has benefited from the support of government organisation, Sarva, which works with children who have been unable to attend formal education and who experience troubles in their home life. Working in this setting, Pushpa’s role overlaps with social work. She has been equipped for this experience through various training programmes, which have increased her confidence and enabled her to use a variety of teaching techniques.
