Sunita, Aadhar Kendra

Sunita has been working as the receptionist for Deep Griha for 1 month now, after spending 12 years on the Aadhar Kendra scheme. She heard about the scheme through a family friend, who was a social worker with DGS.

Sunita appreciated the school materials that were provided as well as the counselling and extra educational support from the field workers. She says that thanks to the Aadhar Kendra scheme her life has changed; she comes from a poor family and is the only one who has received an education.

Sunita finds handling the registers difficult, there is a lot of coming and goings in the busy Tadiwala Road office but is adapting well to her new job. Sunita particularly remembers her visit to the DGS rural project, City of Child where the beautiful rural setting is a change from life in the urban slums. She says despite the children not having any parents, the children are like real brothers and sisters to each other. Like Nizam, Sunita is looking forward to her first trip abroad to Scotland in 2009.
