Crèches & Balwadis
Deep Griha runs 9 crèches, caring for around 270 children every day. The creches are open to ages 6 months to 3 years, and operate in the Tadiwala Road and Ramtekadi centres.
The teachers come from our target communities and receive regular training from Deep Griha.
Crèches provide a safe environment in which young children are able to play and learn. Parents, with with the confidence that their children are well looked after, are able to find and maintain jobs, to help further support their families.
Balwadis provide basic child care and prepare children for beginning their formal education at age five. Currently 429 children benefit from this facility.
Many of the children who have attended the creche progress to our balwadis. There is currently a shortage of places in government primary schools in Pune; children who have attended Deep Griha's balwadis benefit from preference for admission to the 1st Standard.
In recent years, the government has also begun to provide balwadis for pre-school age children. Deep Griha therefore differentiates itself by providing English education in our balwadis, giving children a headstart before they begin schooling.
