ASIMIT – Women Upskilling Programme
Asimit, meaning ‘without boundary,’ is dedicated to empowering young women from low-income communities in and around Pune. While Deep Griha Society has provided livelihood skills training for many years, we recognized that training alone isn’t enough without a clear path to income. The economic hardships of the pandemic further underscored this need, prompting us to focus on helping women use their existing skills for a regular income. Through Asimit, Deep Griha supports resource management and marketing so the women’s skills translate into real opportunities.
Asimit started with a meal program that now provides over 4000 meals every month. At the center, our team not only prepares meals for various Deep Griha programmes but also fulfills catering orders for meetings and events, and provides daily lunch boxes on order. The orders for these lunchboxes grew from 30 to 1500 meals each month. This steady demand has allowed women from the community to earn an income while helping to meet local nutritional needs.
At our Tadiwala Road Center, we offer three-month computer courses, covering essential skills like MS Office and Google applications, which have helped over 100 women improve their employability. While temporarily on hold due to equipment upgrades, this training has provided many with the digital literacy they need to pursue professional roles.
Our sewing project, currently in its early stages at Ramtekadi Center, brings together women with sewing skills to produce items like quilts, baby kits, cloth bags, and pouches. This team works collectively to create an expanding catalogue of quality products for sale, blending traditional skills with new opportunities for growth and income.
