As the new academic term began after the summer break, teachers at Deep Griha Academy returned with fresh energy and renewed purpose. The focus this quarter included restarting the Growing Museum, preparing students for the Girls Gearing Up Leadership Academy, and conducting diagnostic assessments to ensure every student receives customised academic support. These foundational steps help teachers meet each child exactly where they are in their learning journey, promoting long-term academic success.
Community Outreach
Community engagement remained an important part of the learning experience this term, encouraging children to apply classroom knowledge in meaningful, real-world settings.
Healthy Eating Awareness with Migrant Communities
A group of 14 students and two teachers visited nearby migrant worker settlements to talk about the importance of choosing nutritious food over junk or highly processed snacks.
This activity helped students understand the value of healthy eating, develop empathy, and reflect on barriers to nutritious food for under-resourced communities. The next phase will focus on exploring these barriers more deeply.
Clean Water Awareness Session
Students also facilitated a session on the importance of clean drinking water, sharing simple methods like boiling and basic filtration that families can adopt easily.
Democracy
To deepen their understanding of democratic processes, students from Grade 1 to Grade 8 participated in school elections to choose student leaders across various portfolios.
The election experience included campaigning, speech-making, digital voting, and practicing fairness, accuracy, and transparency.
Students voted for leadership roles including:
Head Boy, Head Girl, Vice-Head Boy, Vice-Head Girl, Decoration Minister, Assembly Minister, Computer Minister, Discipline Minister, Science Minister, Library Minister, Cleanliness Minister, Agriculture Minister, and Sports Minister.
This hands-on experience helped children build teamwork, confidence, and a strong sense of civic responsibility.
