A Lifelong Journey of Care: Deep Griha’s Senior Citizen Program
Deep Griha Society’s Senior Citizen Program is a powerful reflection of what sustained community engagement can achieve over decades. One of the most moving examples of this continuity is that of a woman who was a patient at Deep Griha’s very first clinic and is today an active participant in the Senior Citizen Program—illustrating how Deep Griha has grown alongside the community it serves.
While the primary grant for the program concluded in June 2025, the initiative continues through short-term donations as we actively seek a long-term donor to ensure stability and continuity of care for our elderly community members.
Corporate partnerships have played an important role in sustaining the program this quarter. Through an employee engagement activity with BNY, teams came together to raise approximately USD 11,500, directly supporting services for senior citizens. In another engagement, seniors spent time interacting with employees from Ritz-Carlton, creating handmade bracelets and sharing stories, while Deep Griha’s team ensured the provision of essential medications for participating seniors.
Strengthening access to entitlements remains a key focus. An Access to Government Schemes Camp enabled elderly community members to receive benefits amounting to USD 1,469 during this quarter, providing much-needed financial relief and reinforcing the importance of system-level support.
Building the capacity of frontline teams is equally critical. Community Officers often find themselves in situations requiring immediate medical assistance. In partnership with Manipal Hospitals, they received hands-on training in CPR and First Aid, including live demonstrations. The training significantly increased their confidence in responding to emergencies in the field and equipped them with vital life-saving skills.
Deep Griha’s Senior Citizen Program continues to stand as a testament to long-term commitment, collaborative partnerships, and the belief that dignity, care, and security must extend across every stage of life.
