Balancing work and childcare remains a major challenge for many families, particularly for mothers who often have limited access to safe and affordable childcare services. Given the increase in the number of women participating under our women empowerment initiative, Deep Griha Society launched a Day Care Centre (Crèche) under its ASIMIT initiative.

The initiative has also created a meaningful employment opportunity for Aarti Rahul Kamble, a former Community Organizer with Deep Griha Society. After the birth of her second child, Aarti was unable to return to work because she had no reliable childcare support. Having experienced this challenge firsthand, she understood the difficulties faced by many working mothers in the community.

When the Day Care Centre was established, Aarti stepped forward to manage the facility, motivated by a desire to support families facing similar circumstances. Her personal journey has become an inspiration, transforming a challenge into an opportunity to serve her community.

The Day Care Centre started operations on 16 January 2026 with seven children. Within a few months, enrollment grew to 16 children, reflecting the strong need for quality childcare services in the community. The centre provides a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children receive age-appropriate care and early learning opportunities.

Operating from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the centre offers a range of activities designed to support children’s overall development. Through storytelling, songs, creative activities, learning through play, nutritious meals, and adequate rest, children are encouraged to develop socially, emotionally, and cognitively in a caring setting.

For parents, especially mothers, the Day Care Centre provides peace of mind and the freedom to continue working and contributing to their household income, knowing their children are receiving quality care throughout the day.

What began as one mother’s personal struggle has grown into an important community resource—empowering working parents, supporting women’s economic participation, and ensuring young children have a safe and enriching place to spend their day.
