Deep Griha Academy (DGA) marked its 19th Foundation Day by inaugurating a new Indoor Sports Hall, giving students safe, quality and inclusive sports facilities within the school premises. The renovation was funded by Amphenol Interconnect India Pvt. Ltd through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
An inauguration led by students
The ceremony brought together the school management, principal, teachers, students and parents, along with distinguished guests from the sports sector and Deep Griha Society:
- Yashwant Mankhedkar, Deputy Director, Youth Welfare and Sports
- Rupali Vishal Pawar, Vice President, Maharashtra Netball Association
- Vishal Pawar, President, Pune District Roll Ball Association
- Ahmad Sheikh, Kho-Kho Coach and national-level player
- Sriprakash, Advisor, Deep Griha Society
- Ashish James, Board Member, Deep Griha Society
- Ashlesha Onawale, Director, Deep Griha Society
The hall was inaugurated by the dignitaries alongside the school’s Head Boy and Head Girl, a fitting choice for a space built for students. Students then showcased their sporting talent through demonstrations of various games.
Badminton and Drop Roball, right at school
The Indoor Sports Hall has courts for badminton and Drop Roball, so students no longer need to look beyond the school for a place to train and play. Regular play builds more than fitness: it helps children develop confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership and decision-making skills that carry into the classroom and beyond.
The hall will also help the school spot talented students early and support them with the right training and encouragement.
A facility for the wider community
The hall is not meant for DGA students alone. It will be made available to other schools, sports groups and children from the community, extending access to quality sports facilities to young people who rarely have it.
Sport is already opening doors for our students
The new hall builds on a quarter of real sporting achievement across Deep Griha’s programmes:
- DGA’s girls’ cricket team reached the semi-finals of the Tennis Cricket Interschool Competition and won INR 1,000. Of the more than 56 teams that took part, only six were girls’ teams, and our girls were proud to be one of them. The experience gave them a chance to practise discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.
- Seven children from City of Child (CoC) were selected for a State Level Tennis Cricket competition, where Yash, who is also a student at DGA, was named Man of the Match.
With a dedicated hall on campus, more students will have the chance to train regularly and compete with confidence.
A CSR partnership that invests in children
Amphenol Interconnect India Pvt. Ltd’s support shows what a focused CSR partnership can achieve: a lasting facility that will serve students and the wider community for years to come. We are grateful for their commitment to children’s holistic development.
Learning beyond textbooks
By bringing sport and education together, Deep Griha Academy aims to create an environment where children can learn beyond textbooks, discover their potential and build essential life skills. Quality education, we believe, must go hand in hand with physical activity and with opportunities for every child to take part and grow.
The Indoor Sports Hall is an important step towards Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), Quality Education, by promoting inclusive learning opportunities and supporting the holistic development of children.
